RESEARCH INTERESTS
&My initial research activity was devoted to the urbanization process in central Italy during the Bronze and Iron Ages. Afterwards, my interests focused mainly on Early Roman and Etruscan Italy, especially the study of material culture (especially pottery and architecture), funerary ideology, landscape structure, absolute and relative chronology in the comparison between Near East and the Central Mediterranean.
Later I expanded my activity to the analysis of the material culture of the archaic central Italy within the framework of the Mediterranean and the cultural network linking Central and Eastern Mediterranean, with a special focus on the major islands of the Eastern Mediterranean.
I also practice more general social issues (ancient inequality, society and warfare), methodology (excavation techniques, statistic analysis, GIS), museology, dissemination and didactic for sites and exhibitions, the complicated dialogue between past and present (looting economy, urban planning, outreach).
